Tom Ritchie – Speaker Series
When Travel Photography Goes Terribly Wrong
Thursday, April 23 @ 7:00 pm
Tom Ritchie has spent many, many years traveling to remote and exotic places. Most of the time, he has been accompanied by photographers with camera lenses as big as refrigerators and camera bags as big as Jeeps in which to keep them. He has heard them toss around terms like white balance, aspect ratio and star burst.
Join Tom as he presents a hilarious illustrated critique of his own photography and that of other regular Joes, illustrates the magic of Photoshop and explains some of the tricks he uses to try to approach the quality of the photography greats.
Tom Ritchie has spent his entire career travelling the world to its remote and exotic reaches. He is a trained scientist; having completed his graduate studies in vertebrate paleontology, physical anthropology and geology at the University of Florida He has led expeditions aboard small passenger vessels for the adventure travel company Lindblad Expeditions and the National Geographic Society for more than 40 years. His lifestyle is exciting and the envy of many of us who enjoy travelling, but he admits Floral City is his spiritual home and is always happy to return there between voyages to his wife, Paulette.
